Unusable ss.ism (34MB) file created in media folder

description

I have created a zip file as instructed in the "Upload already converted files" chapter here: http://edbsmoothstreaming.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Usage&referringTitle=Documentation

The video player HTML that is generates referes to this source: /Media/Default/SmoothStreaming/40b6cfb7-ac4f-4db3-bd39-264b489ce8fb/ss.ism/manifest

The GET request for that url returns a 500 Internal Server Error

In the media folder I find my original myvideo.ism file (10KB), and the generated "ss.ism" file (34.4MB).

Any idea what is going on here?

I'm probably answering this way too late to be of much help. I assume you're running IIS7 and followed the instructions for installing the Smooth Streaming feature.

I suggest that you check to see if you have the ".ism" extension registered as valid MIME type in IIS. I believe the expected type is "text/xml". Also, make sure that you update the web.config in the ~/Media folder to add the "SmoothHandler" per the author's instructions.
